What does the grease nipple on a hinge do?

Draw the space around the fitting
How much space should I leave around the grease fitting?
Leave enough room for the intended tool to reach, connect and disconnect in the maintenance position. There is no universal gap: it depends on the fitting, tool and surrounding parts. Show the fitting relative to the door, frame and adjacent panels, and mark the available space on the drawing.
- Which way will the fitting face after installation?
- Can the intended lubrication tool reach and connect to it?
- Does the door need to be open to gain access?
- Will another component be installed later in that space?
The tool connection matters as well as visibility. A fitting that can be seen through a narrow gap may still be difficult to reach. Show the intended tool or its required access envelope if space is tight.
